Women's Basketball Falls To FSU, 72-55

The Boston College women's basketball team fell to Florida State, 72-55, on Sunday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Center in ACC action. The Eagles are now 12-13 overall and 3-8 in the ACC. Florida State is now 16-7 and 4-6 in the conference.
The Eagles were led by freshman Kelly Hughes with 23 points and five rebounds, while Katie Zenevitchfinished with 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. Florida State was led by Natasha Howard with 26 points and 11 rebounds while Cheetah Yashira had six points, nine rebounds and 15 assists.
BC took an early lead, 9-6, behind four points from Zenevitch and five from Hughes. BC's offense sputtered as the Seminoles went on an 8-0 and took a 14-12 lead at 11:35 in the game. The FSU lead extended to 20-15 with a 14-2 run.
The Eagles hurt themselves turning the ball over 13 times in the half. BC was down, 35-20, while shooting 38 percent from the field. FSU shot 50 percent had held a 21-10 advantage on the boards. Hughes opened the second half with a long three-pointer but
FSU responded by going to Howard. She had eight points and pushed the Seminoles lead to, 45-26. The Eagles could not cut into the lead all day as the Seminoles dominated inside, outscoring BC 54-18 in the paint.
FSU also pounded the boards, 46-22, including 24 offensive rebounds.
