Wake Forest Stuns Women's Basketball, 82-64

Winston-Salem, NC - The Boston College women's basketball team fell on the road to Wake Forest, 82-64, at Joel Coliseum on Monday night in an ACC matchup. The Eagles are no w 15-7, while Wake Forest improved 11-12.
Boston College was led by Carolyn Swords with 17 points and 12 rebounds, her ninth double-double of the season. Senior forward Stefanie Murphy chipped in with 18 points and eight boards, while freshman Kristen Doherty finished with nine points and eight boards.
Wake Forest had five players in double-figures. The Decs were led by Sandra Garcia with 21 points.
In the first half, Boston College opened up with a 12-6 lead on hot shooting from Murphy (2-for-2 from the three-point line). The Eagles were shooting 75 percent from the floor in the first seven minutes of the game. Slowly, Wake Forest chipped away and took the lead at 7:31 on a running layup by Secily Ray.
Chelsea Douglas hit a three-pointer at 5:41 and Wake's took control of the half. Douglas would hit three three's and final five minutes giving Wake Forest a 42-33 lead at the half. BC shot just 31 percent from the floor, while the Deamon Decons shot 52 percent.
For BC the second half continued as the Eagles shot 2-for-7 in the first five minutes and fell behind 10 points, 47-37. Boston College continued to struggle as an old fashioned three-point play by Thomas gave Wake at 54-39 lead. The lead extended to 56-39 with 12:57 to play on three straight fast break points.
Wake Forest shot 53 percent from the floor while BC shot a season-low 30 percent from the floor. Prior to the game BC averaged 19 assists a game and finished the game with just nine assists. BC had 18 turnovers and Wake Forest scored 17 points off the Eagles mistakes.
