Women's Basketball Tops Clemson, 66-43

Juniors Katie Zenevitch and Kristen Doherty combined for 36 points and 14 rebound to lead Boston College past Clemson, 66-43, in an ACC game at Littlejohn Coliseum. BC improved to is now 8-7 on the season and 2-2 in the ACC. Clemson dropped to 4-12 and 0-5 in the conference.
Zenevitch shot 6-for-13 from the floor with 18 points and nine boards, while Doherty went 7-for-14 and 4-for-7 from three-point land for 18 points to lead BC. Kerri Shields finished with six points but grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds, while freshman Nicole Boudreau finished with 11 points, four assists and four steals.
The Eagles opened up the game on a 10-2 run and never looked back. Zenevitch and Boudreau had 10 points apiece in the half, while Doherty added eight points.
Clemson closed the gap to five points at 7:06 to play in the half. After a BC timeout, the Eagles finished the half on a 16-2 run sparked by two straight three-pointers by Doherty. BC held a 36-17 lead at the half.
BC shot 39 percent from the floor but had a 27-17 edge on the boards. BC also had seven steals and 11 points off the Tigers turnovers.
The second half, BC opened up with four quick points on layups by Shields and Zenevitch. BC held the Tigers offense which did not scored until 16:13 in the half. The Eagles went up 47-23 on an 11-6 run with just under 12 minutes left to play.
Clemson scored six straight points to cut the lead to 16 points with 7:45 to play. A Doherty jumper ended any comeback the Tigers may have had in mind. BC shot 43 percent in the half and Doherty had 10 of her 18 in the half.
BC (7-7, 2-2 ACC) is back in action on Thursday when the Eagles host Florida State at 7 p.m. ... Kerri Shields notched her career-high of 11 boards in the game ... Kristen Doherty hit four three's. The last time she had four long range shots was against Wake Forest on Jan. 8.
