Bouchard Named to Preseason All-Big East Second-Team

NEWARK, N.J. -- Boston College's Cal Bouchard was named to the preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team by a vote of the league's head coaches. A unanimous selection to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team a year ago, the native of Aurora, Ontario, earned league Rookie of the Week honors three times during the 1996-97 season.

The sophomore guard led the Eagles in scoring in eight games and was second on the team with an average of 12.0 points per game. Bouchard made an immediate impact in her first collegiate season, starting 26 of 28 games in the Boston College backcourt. In BIG EAST play, she averaged 12.2 points and led the Eagles with a career-high 24 points in the BIG EAST Tournament win over St. John's on March 1. Bouchard was named Sheraton Player of the Game in the win over Alaska-Anchorage at the Northern Lights Invitational.

Bouchard competed internationally this past summer as a member of the Canadian National Team.
