Armitage Leads Men at New England Cross Country Championships Cunniff paces women
Junior Marshal Armitage (Burlington, Ontario) finished 13th to lead the mens cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the New England Cross Country Championships run at Franklin Park in Boston. In the womens race, freshman Meghan Cunniffs (Monmouth Beach, NJ) 23rd-place finish led the womens team to a 13th-place team finish.
Senior captain Brian Shafer (Litchfield, CT) followed Armitage in 16th place. Senior Chris Merrill (Windsor, CT) was the next Eagle to cross the line in 58th place. The Eagles placed all of their scoring runners in the top 70 in a race of 263 runners. Freshman Colin Wolfe (Westmont, CA) finished in 65th place, followed closely by sophomore Derek Smith (Duxbury, MA) in 67th place.
On the womens side, Boston Colleges top five runners did not run the race. In their absence, Cunniff led the Eagles. Sophomore Lisa McIsaac (Edmonton, Alberta) finished in 42nd place. Fellow sophomore Kerry Andrews crossed in 82nd place, while senior Meghan Gayman (Manchester, NH) finished in 99th place. The womens race comprised 263 runners.
The Eagles next race will be the BIG EAST Championships, hosted by Boston College at Franklin Park, on Friday, October 30.
