Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College cross country team members Jordan Hamm, Bridget Dahlberg and Hope Krause were selected as the ACC Performers of the Week following their performances at the New England Championship this past weekend. Hamm was named the ACC Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, while Dahlberg and Krause shared the honor for the women.
Dahlberg, a junior from Newton, Mass., and Krause, a graduate student from New Canaan, Conn., hit the tape simultaneously to take third out of 269 participants. Their time of 17:46 over the five-kilometer course led Boston College past cross town rival Boston University by 35 points, 38 to 73, for its third team title in four years. This is the first ACC weekly honor for both Dahlberg and Krause.
Hamm, a native of Java Center, N.Y., blazed through the eight-kilometer course in a personal-best clip of 25:13. The junior's 15th place showing out of 282 athletes led Boston College to a 16th-place team finished in a 43-team field. This is Hamm's first conference honor.
The accolades are the seventh weekly awards for both the men's and women's programs since joining the ACC. For the women, it is the first since Jillian King's on Oct. 11 of last year, while the men's is the first since Theodore Doyle's on Oct. 28, 2008.
The women resume action on Friday, Oct. 14, when they head to Madison, Wis. for the ADIDAS Wisconsin Invitational, while the men won't compete again until returning to Franklin Park on Sunday, Oct. 23, for the Mayor's Cup.
