Men's Cross Country Looking To Continue Improvement

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College men's cross country team has been led by a pair of upperclassmen throughout the opening stages of the 2000 campaign. Senior Mark Fonnemann (Westerley, R.I.) and junior Colin Wolfe (Westmont, Ill.) have paced the Eagles in the team's first two meets.
Fonnemann recorded a time of 25:29, good for an eighth-place finish, at a regional meet that featured Brown, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and host New Hampshire (September 9). Overall, the team placed fourth amongst Division I schools.
The following week, the team placed third amongst Division I teams at the Dartmouth Invitational (September 16). Leading the way for the Eagles was Wolfe, who registered a third-place finish with a time of 25:19 .
Head coach Randy Thomas is excited about the team's prospects and fully expects to see much improvement throughout the course of the season.
The Eagles will look to build upon Thomas' expectations when they travel to the Iona College Meet of Champions in Bronx, N.Y. on September 30.
