Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The 2012 Boston College men’s cross country scheduled was announced earlier today by head coach Matt Kerr. Two trips to Van Cortlandt Park and a pair of home stands at Franklin Park set the Eagles’ path towards the NCAA Championship on Nov. 17 in Louisville, Ky.
The Eagles kick off the season at Van Cortlandt. Iona College hosts its 18th Annual Br. John “Paddy” Doyle/Meet of Champions on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 10:15 a.m. Boston College took eighth at the meet in 2011, riding a pair of top 20 performances by Jordan Hamm and Louis Serafini.
BC then ventures to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Paul Short Run Invitational on September 28. The Friday start time is slated for 11 a.m. Lehigh University conducts its meets at Lehigh XC Course.
Two of the three October meets will be run on home turf. The Eagles vie for the 2012 New England Championship on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1:15 p.m. The first heat goes off at 11 a.m. with men’s and women’s subdivisions following in 45 minute intervals. All five scoring members of the BC squad return for 2012 edition.
Boston College will attempt to duplicate its success at the 23rd Annual Mayor’s Cup on Sunday, Oct. 21. The Boston Athletic Association hosts a full day of activities, with the five-kilometer race set to go off around noon. The Eagles nearly swept the event a year ago, taking seven of the top 10 spots.
Six days later, Boston College heads south for the ACC Championship. Virginia Tech hosts the conference tilt on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. on Tech XC Course.
The NCAA Northeast Regional will be conducted in New London, Conn. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 12 p.m. The top two teams will receive automatic bids to the national championship being run at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday, Nov. 17.
