New Orleans –The Boston College men’s track and field program was named a 2011 Division I All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday. The Eagles received the distinction for having collectively carried a grade point average greater than 3.0.
A total of 90 colleges and universities were recognized as All-Academic Teams. BC is one of five schools from the ACC to be honored – fourth most in the country. The Big 12 led all conferences with eight schools, followed by the Big East and Ivy League with seven.
The award compliments the Boston College men’s cross country team accolade, as it was also named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for the 2010 season.
