Eagles Qualify for the NCAA East Regional

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Five members of the Boston College women’s track team and one member of the men’s track team qualified for the NCAA East Regional from May 23-25 in an announcement made by the NCAA on Thursday. The East Regional takes place on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C.
Dahlberg scored a victory at the ECAC Championships last weekend with the second fastest time in team history in the 3000m steeplechase (10:09.34). The mark was the 13th fastest time recorded in the entire nation this season. Mueller’s strong performance in the event also earned a berth in the Regional as she posted a career best time of 10:13.14.
Jillian King, the 2012-13 Eagle of the Year honoree, qualified in the 1500m with her mark of 4:21.51 set at the Stanford Invitational on March 29.
Sophomore Liv Westphal’s strong performance in the 5000m at the ECAC Championships last weekend earned herself at berth to the Regional as she posted a career best time of 16:22.69.
In field events, senior Kelsey Huckins qualified in the discus throw with a school record toss of 50.13m [164’ 6”] at the UMass Invitational on April 13.
On the men’s side, graduate student Tyler King will make a Regional appearance in the 3000m steeplechase after his career-best mark of 8:58.48 set last weekend at the New England Track & Field Championships. King’s performance was the third fastest time recorded in the event in team history.
