May 14, 2014

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Juniors Richard Lucas (men's track and field) and Covie Stanwick (lacrosse) have been named Eagles of the Week.

Lucas became the New England champion in the 10,000m when he won the event with a time of 31:17.08. That was more than 12 seconds better than the second place finisher. Lucas was the lone winner for either Boston College track and field team at New Englands this past weekend at Westfield State. He also took second in the Raleigh Relays earlier in the spring with a time of 31:16.75.

Stanwick led the lacrosse team to its first two NCAA tournament wins over the weekend. She racked up eight goals and four assists in the two games. Stanwick recorded five goals and three assists in the 17-9 win over Bryant and then had three goals and an assist in an 8-3 win over Loyola. She was named the Inside Lacrosse Brine Player of the Week for her efforts.

The track and field teams will compete in the IC4A and ECAC Championships this weekend. Lacrosse (15-5) takes on Syracuse on Saturday in the Carrier Dome in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.
