Men's Track Finishes Seventh At New Englands

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Boston College men's track and field team finished seventh at the New England Outdoor Championships this weekend held at Westfield State.

Southern Connecticut won the event with a total of 108 points. Rhode Island (71 points) came in second while UConn (66) placed third. Boston College finished with 35 points.

Boston College placed three runners in the top four of the 10,000m run. Junior Richard Lucas won the event by finishing in 31:17.08. Freshman Kevin Sullivan finished behind him in second at 31:29.96. Junior James Newhouse took fourth with a time of 31:37.39.

The 4x400m and 4x800m relay teams both earned points. The 4x400m relay team finished fourth with a time of 3:12.91. The 4x800m team took fifth at 7:39.19.

Senior Anthony Bellitti finished sixth in the 3000m steeplechase with a mark of 9:25.92.

The Eagles will compete in the ECAC Championships next weekend at Princeton.
