Men's Track Competes at Penn Relays and Skyhawk Invite

PHILADELPHIA – The Boston College men’s track team participated in the 4 x mile relay and the DMR at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia last weekend. The Eagles also competed at the Skyhawk Invitational hosted by Stonehill College where they tallied season best performances in the 110m hurdles, 4x100 relay, and the hammer throw.
At the Penn Relays, the group of Timothy Ferris, Jack Hennessy, Kellen MacDonald, and Jordan Hamm tallied a ninth place finish in the DMR with a time of 9:55.07 – just ahead of ACC foe Georgia Tech. In the 4 x mile relay (16:52.90), Hamm, Jack Linehan, Joseph McConaughy, and Collin Fedor finished less than a second from breaking the school record in the event (16:51.97) set at the 2011 Penn Relays.
At the Skyhawk Invitational, three Eagles set team season best marks in three events as BC finished fifth in team scoring at the event with 79 points.
Mitchell McGinty (18.62 in the 110m hurdles) and Coleman Walsh (38.15m in the hammer throw) tallied the team’s top performances in the respective events this season. The quartet of Daniel Ashenden, Connor O’Neill, Owie Agbontaen, and Jon Vaughn combined for the season best performance in the 4x100 relay (42.56).
Vaughn and Ashenden placed second and third respectively in the 200m with times of 22.72 and 22.87 while James Fox finished first in his heat of the 800m with a mark of 2:01.61.
Louis Serafini scored a third place finish out of 20 participants in the 5000m with a time of 15:10.76 while teammates Michael Mahoney (15:32.00) and Richard Moschella (15:46.45) finished in the top 10.
James Glover tallied eight points for the team for his second place finish in the steeplechase – a personal best time of 9:41.12.
The Eagles will return to action on May 10 for the IC4A Championships in Princeton, N.J.
