RALEIGH, N.C. – The Boston College Men’s track team finished 12th (two points) at the 2013 ACC Championships hosted by NC State this weekend.
Kellen MacDonald scored BC’s lone points at the event as he qualified for the 400m hurdles final with a second place finish in his heat (53.05) – a personal record for him. In the finals, MacDonald finished seventh overall with a time of 53.78, 2.23 seconds behind the winner Rilwan Alowonle of North Carolina. The mark puts McDonald 51st on the NCAA Division I East Regional Qualifying list and also set a qualifier for the IC4A Championships.
Junior Jack Hennessy tallied a personal record of 48.53 in the 400m with sophomore Timothy Ferris recorded a personal and team season best of 1:53.44 in the 800m. Earlier this week, Ferris was named to the 2013 All-ACC Academic Indoor Team alongside women’s track member Jillian King.
Sophomores Jon Vaughn (10.88) and Daniel Ashenden (11.10) tallied the top two marks for the team in the 100m this season – both good for personal records for each.
In the 4x400 relay, the quartet of Vaughn, MacDonald, Connor O’Neill, and Jack Hennessy finished fifth in their heat with a time of 3:19.81.
The men’s team will be back in action this Thursday as they head down to Philadelphia for the Penn Relays.
