BOSTON - Senior Matthew Adetula led the Boston College men's track & field team with a second place finish in the long jump at the Husky Spring Open on Solomon Track on Saturday. The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. native soared to 6.64 meters (21-9.5 ft.) to earn silver, as the Eagles registered 11 top 10 finishes in their first outdoor meet of the season.
BC's other podium finishes came from graduate high jumper Jon Bogosian, who cleared 1.93 meters (6-4.0 ft.) to tie for third on attempts, and the 4x400 relay contingent in a 3:27.44, also taking third place.
Senior Brian Smith was clocked at 50.67 in the 400 meter competition. The Woburn, Mass. native's fastest time in two seasons awarded him fourth place in a field of 30. Sophomore Bradley Noss took fifth in 51.19.
Sophomores Connor O'Neill and Jack Hennessy placed seventh in their respective events. O'Neill submitted a 2:00.27 in the half mile, while Hennessy was clocked at 23.26 in the 200-meter dash.
In the 100-meter dash, freshman Jon Vaughn hit the tape in 11.50 for eighth. Senior Kellen Foley was right behind at 11.51 for ninth.
Freshman Anthony Tripodi earned an eighth place showing with a time of 1:00.57 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Brian Wolff paced the Eagles in the 5,000 meters, running a 15:40.01 to take ninth out of 31 athletes.
Boston College sends entrants to the Stanford Invitational and Raleigh Relays this week. Both meets begin on Friday, March 30.
