MacDonald Run Seventh Fastest 500m Time in BC History

BOSTON – On Saturday afternoon at the BU Invitational, sophomore Kellen MacDonald rounded the track two and a half times in 1:04.64 to take sixth place in the 500 meter dash. The time submitted by was the seventh fastest in Boston College history and qualified the Falmouth, Maine native for the IC4A Championship meet. The Eagles collected two IC4A and four New England (NEICCA) Championship qualifying standards at the meet.
Boston College’s other IC4A qualifier came on the heels of Joseph Stuart, MacDonald, Kyle Nelson and Jack Hennessy. The 4x400 meter relay competed in a heated third section, getting edged at the line for third in the heat at 3:19.55, but finishing in 11th overall.
Stuart won his section of the 400 meter dash earlier in the day, turning in a NEICCCA standard and personal record of 49.72. Classmate Bradley Noss also established a personal best of 50.97, taking second in his heat of the quarter mile.
The 1,000 meter contest also provided New England qualifiers for the Eagles. Junior Jack Linehan took fourth overall with a PR of 2:27.96, followed by sophomore Joe McConaughy in ninth with a best of 2:30.70.
Junior James Glover and senior Akash Chougule added an NEICCCA marks in the 5000 meter run. Glover dropped his personal record by 25 seconds to 14:57.50 for fourth in section one, while Chougule shattered his best with a 31-second PR of 15:01.70.
Freshman Pat Daly led the Eagles in the half mile. The rookie took sixth in section three with a 1:56.06 clip, followed by Nelson in 1:56.33 and junior Nahed Lakkis at 1:56.60. Sophomore Connor O’Neill dropped his PR by five second for his first sub-two minute time of 1:59.81.
