Men's T&F Finishes Fifth at Battle in Beantown

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Boston College men’s track and field team finished fifth at the Battle in Beantown hosted by Harvard Univesity Saturday afternoon. The Eagles posted 38 team points.

Sophomore Mitchell McGinty led the way for the BC with his first-place finish in the high jump (6’4.25”), earning 10 points for his performance.

The Eagles picked up another ten points when junior Tim Ferris won the 800m with a time of 1:56.41. Teammate Joseph McConaughy took sixth in the race (1:58.44), adding another point.

Junior Patrick Daly became the first team member to qualify for the IC4A Championship with his third-place finish in the 1000m, crossing the line in 2:27.39) .

Connor O’Neill took fifth in the 500m (1:05.40) and met New England Standard, earning two points and setting his own personal record.

Both relay teams put up great performances for BC. The 4x440 yard relay team of Daniel Ashendon, Obinna Nwanko, Darren James and Connor O’Neill took fourth (3.23.66) for two points and met the NEICAAA standard.

The 4x880 yard team comprised of Patrick Daly, Tom Hennessy, Robert Somary and Timothy Ferris took second (7:54.88) and met both the IC4A and NEICAAA standards.

BC will return to action on Jan. 24 for the BU Terrier Classic.
