Timothy Ritchie enters his fourth season as an assistant with the Boston College men's cross country and track and field programs. Ritchie's responsibilities include work out execution, recruiting and serving as mentor for student-athletes.

"I am very excited to be back at BC to be involved with the Track and Field and Cross Country programs in a new dimension," Ritchie stated. "It is a thrill to be back with a team that I have grown to care so much for in my five years here. I hope my experience as a runner on the team, as well as an active member of the BC community through academics and extracurricular activities will be an asset for the current team and the athletes to come."

As a student-athlete at Boston College, Ritchie enjoyed one of the most storied careers in recent times.

Ritchie captained the cross country teams from 2007-08. After taking seventh place in the Northeast Regional in 2008, he competed in the NCAA National Championship and finished 62nd at the meet. Earlier that season, he became just the fourth Eagle to win the New England championship, one year removed from finishing as the runner-up. In his final season, Ritchie earned the highest-ever placing at the ACC Championship (2nd) and was named the ACC Performer of the Week on two occasions.

Ritchie's indoor career was capped off by a podium appearance for the 3,000m and a fifth place finish in the distance medley relay at the ACC Championship in 2010.

The standout was twice a regional qualifier in the [event] in his outdoor career. In 2009, Ritchie received one ACC Performer of the Week award and earned All-ACC honors in the 5000m. In 2010, he was the runner-up in the 1,500m at the New England Championship.

Ritchie is currently continuing his running career as part of the Boston Athletic Association. Since joining the BAA in 2010, Ritchie has continued the improvement he began at BC. He has improved in every event from the mile to the marathon, breaking the 4 minute mile barrier in 2012 and finishing 25th in the 2013 Boston Marathon. Ritchie has been top 10 in six different USATF Road Racing National Championships, competed internationally in cross country and just recently finished 4th in the country at the US Half Marathon Championship running 1:02:29 (4:45 per mile) for the 13.1mi race.

In addition to his athletic career as an Eagle, Ritchie was an active member of the Boston College community during his undergraduate career. Through Campus Ministry he participated in numerous activities, including Appalachia Volunteer, Urban Immersion Volunteer and CURA prayer group leader. He was a member of the Sons of St. Patrick, a student-founded, student-run organization that addresses the needs of Catholic men on campus through prayer, service and dialogue. Ritchie was also a tutor and instructional assistant in the Learning Resource Center for Student-Athletes from 2009-10 and a lifeguard for three years.

Ritchie has earned three degrees from Boston College. As a double major, he graduated with a B.S. of Biology and a B.A. of Theology from the College of Arts and Sciences in 2009. Continuing his education, Ritchie completed his Master's of Arts in Theology with a 3.7 GPA in 2010.

The Worcester, Mass. native was a six-time member of the ACC All-Academic Team. Ritchie was recognized for his academic excellence each cross country and indoor/outdoor track and field season as an upperclassman.
