Oct. 13, 2009

Tulsa, Okla. - The Boston College men's tennis team had one of its doubles teams invited to compete in the D'Novo/ITA All-American Tennis Championships over this past weekend.

The doubles team of Thomas Nolan and Erik Kreutzer, who are the Eagles number one doubles team, were invited to participate in a doubles tournament that featured some of the best doubles teams in the country.

Nolan and Kreutzer were matched up against Austen Childs and Simon Childs in the first round. Childs and Childs are the number one doubles team for the University of Louisville. They were also the #6 seed in the tournament, and are currently ranked 10th in the country as a doubles team.

The Eagles went on to beat the team from Louisville 8-5 in a very exciting match to post one of more impressive upsets in the first round, and more importantly move the Eagles on to the Round of 16.

In the Round of 16 Nolan and Kreutzer ran into Brad Cox and Eric Quigley who play as the number one doubles team for the University of Kentucky. They are currently ranked 24th in the country. Unfortunately, the Eagles couldn't keep the upset run going as they lost to the doubles team from Kentucky 8-1.

The doubles team of Boris Conkic and John Patrick Smith from the University of Tennessee won the tournament.

The Eagles will be back in action on October 16-21 as they will compete in the ITA Northeast Regionals in Hanover, N.H.
