Men's Tennis Competes at USTA's Men's College Invitational

The Boston College men's tennis team completed its first event of the fall season at the USTA Men's College Invitational in Flushing, NY, from Sept. 20-22.
Sophomore Kyle Childree and junior Matt Wagner both competed in singles play in the D Flight.
In the qualifying round, Wagner defeated Fordham's Michael Puntillo, 6-0; 6-0. In the semi-finals, No. 3 seed Kyle Childree upset the No. 1 seed Brant Switzler of Monmouth, 6-2; 6-2 to advance to the finals.
Wagner defeated Monmouth's Freddy Marcinkowski, 1-6; 6-2; and 10-5 to also advance to the final round.
Childree and Wagner competed against one another in the final round of the D Flight and Childree came out victorious defeating Wagner, 6-3; 4-6; 7-6(5).
