Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Two members of the Boston College men's tennis team were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for their strong showings in the 2009 spring season.

Freshman Akash Muppidi was named the ITA Northeast Region Freshman of the Year and Heach Coach Scott Wilkins was named the ITA Northeast Region Coach of the Year.

Muppidi (Trumbull, Conn.) posted a 20-12 overall singles record and 16-13 overall doubles record in 2008-09. Muppidi was 15-10 in dual matches in the spring season playing mainly in the No. 2 position where he posted a 10-9 record including wins in four ACC matches this season.

Wilkins, finished his fifth season at BC with Coach of the Year honors in the Northeast Region after leading his team to a 14-12 record and undefeated record in the Northeast.
