Men's Tennis Falls to NC State at ACCs

Men's Tennis Falls to NC State to ACCs Cary, N.C. - The Boston College men's tennis team, seeded 11th, lost, 4-0, to eighth-seed NC State at the Atlantic Coast Conference on Thursday afternoon at Cary Tennis Complex. The Eagles finish their season 6-15, 1-9 in the ACC.
The Wolfpack (20-8) took the doubles point, winning the first two matches. Freshman Matt Wagner and junior Billy Grokenberger fell to Dave Thomson and Sean Weber, 8-5, on court three. Seniors Akash Muppidi and Alex Skinner lost on court one, also by a score of 8-5 to concede the first point to NC State. Freshman Philip Nelson and sophomore Michael McGinnis did not finish their match with Jaime Pulger and Robbie Mudge, but they trailed, 6-3.
In singles action, NC State took the first three matches to earn the victory. Skinner lost to Dominic Hodgson, 6-0, 6-3, on court two and junior Klaus Puestow fell to Mudge, 6-2, 6-1, on court five. Sophomore Jonathan Raude fell to Julian Sullivan, 6-3, 6-2, on the third court.
McGinnis was beating Beck Bond, 6-4, 2-3, on court six. Nelson lost his first set in the No. 4 position, 6-3, but had come back to tie the second set, 4-4, when the match ended. Muppidi was trailing Pulger, 6-4, 2-3, on court one.
