Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College men's tennis team finished off the regular season with an 6-1 victory over Brandeis on Sunday even at the Flynn Recreation Complex tennis courts. The Eagles (6-14) took the doubles point and won five-of-six singles matches from the Judges (4-9).
On the doubles courts, seniors Akash Muppidi and Alex Skinner shut out Josh Jordan and Alex Siegel, 8-0, in the No. 1 spot. Junior Billy Grokenberger and sophomore Michael McGinnis lost in a close, 8-7 match to Ezra Bernstein and David Yovanoff on court two. Freshmen pair Matt Wagner and Philip Nelson earned the point for BC with an 8-5 victory over Ben Fine and Mike Secular on court three.
In singles action, Skinner earned his second win in the No. 1 spot on the season, defeating Jordan, 6-3, 6-0. Sophomore Jonathan Raude took down Yovanoff, 6-2, 6-1, on court two while Nelson earned a 6-2, 7-6, win over Siegel on the third court. McGinnis won on court four, 6-0, 6-1, over Bernstein and senior Rob Ankner tallied an 6-2, 6-3, win over Adam Brown on court six. Wagner lost to Secular, 7-5, 7-6, on court five.
The Eagles travel to Cary, N.C., for the ACC Tournament, starting Thursday, Apri 19. They will face sixth-seed BC State at 3 p.m.
