Men's Tennis Falls to Duke, 7-0

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College men's tennis team, fell to No. 5 Duke, 7-0, at the Flynn Recreation Complex tennis courts. the Blue Devils (20-4, 9-2 ACC) swept yhe Eagles (5-14, 1-10 ACC).
While senior Akash Muppidi lost to the No. 4 player in the country, Henrique Cunha, 6-2, 6-2, on the No. 1 singles court, he and senior partner Alex Skinner, came within a point of beating Chris Mengel and Cunha on the No. 1 doubles court. The Duke pair is ranked 28th in the country while the BC pair is ranked 36th.
Freshman Philip Nelson lost a hard-fought battle with Torsten Wietoska on the third single court, 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-3). Nelson and partner classmate Matt Wagner fell in the No. 3 position on the doubles court, 8-3, to Cale Hammond and Wietoska.
The Eagles took on Brandeis later in the day.
BC will play sixth-seed NC State in the first round of the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C., on Thursday, April 19 at 3 p.m.
