Cambridge, Mass. - The Boston College men's tennis team lost to No. 16 Harvard, 6-1, on Wednesday at the Murr Center tennis courts. The Eagles (4-8) earned one point on a singles victory and one of three doubles point over the Crimson (14-1).
Senior Akash Muppidi won his match in the No. 1 position, defeating Jonathan Pearlman, 6-4, 6-1. He and partner senior Alex Skinner beat Casey MacMaster and Alistair Felton, who were ranked 35th in the country, 8-5. Skinner lost on court two, 6-4, 6-4, to Denis Nguyen.
Freshman Philip Nelson fought hard, playing Henry Streer to three sets on court four, dropping the first set, 5-7, but coming back to win the second set, 6-3. He lost the third set, 6-2. Sophomore Michael McGinnis also fought for three sets, losing on court five to Alex Steinroeder, 4-6, 6-1, 6-0.
Sophomore Jonathan Raude fell to Shaun Chaudhuri, 6-4, 6-2, on court three. Junior Klaus Puestow lost in straight sets, both by scores of 6-2, to Andy Nguyen, on court six.
Nelson and junior Billy Grokenberger lost in double action Nguyen and Nguyen, 8-6, on court two and McGinnis and freshman Matt Wagner lost to Pearlman and Srteinroeder, 8-1, on the third court.
