Men's Tennis Loses to No. 59 Virginia Tech, 7-0

Facing two singles players ranked in the ITA's Top 100, Boston College lost to No. 59 Virginia Tech, 7-0, at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Va., on Sunday afternoon.

In its ACC opener, the Eagles (5-6, 0-1 ACC) dropped the three doubles matches before the Hokies (9-3, 1-0 ACC) went 6-0 in singles play.

Senior Billy Grokenberger played in BC's most competitive singles match falling to Aaron Gomez, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) on court No. 5. Grokenberger also competed in the Eagles' closest doubles match teaming with sophomore Matt Wagner in an 8-7 (7-2) loss to Hunter Koontz and Lucas Oliveira on court No. 2.

Boston College next plays Clemson in its ACC home opener on March 24 at 5 p.m. in Dedham, Mass.
