The Boston College men's tennis team lost a hard-fought ACC matchup to Maryland 4-3, on Friday afternoon at the Tennis Center in College Park, Md.
The loss drops the Eagles to 3-4 (0-3 ACC) for the season, while the win improves Maryland to 5-2 (1-0 ACC) on the year.
BC took the first point of the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. The 21st nationally ranked doubles team of Thomas Nolan and Erik Kreutzer won at the number one position 9-7, while Akash Muppidi and Adam Davison picked up the other doubles win for the Eagles at the three spot.
Muppidi, who is now ranked 76th in the nation in singles, won his match at the number two position over Ryan Lissner 7-5, 6-1 to extend his match winning streak to 10. Muppidi hasn't lost a match since February 6.
The match would eventually come down to the battle at the number one singles spot where Nolan lost in a heartbreaker to Sergio Wyss 7-6 (5), 7-5. That outcome gave Maryland their fourth point of the match.
The Eagles are back in action tomorrow as they will travel down to Charlottesville, Va. to take on Virginia. The match starts at 6 p.m.
