Senior Murphy Named Academic All-ACC

April 10, 2014

Chestnut Hill, MA--Boston College Men's Senior Captain Sean Murphy was recently named to the 2014 All-ACC Men's Swimming and Diving Team. Candidates for this award must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters. A Finance & Info Systems major in the Carroll School of Management, recently ranked No. 4 in the nation by Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Murphy far surpassed the requirements of the award, despite the difficulty of his field of study.

Murphy was one of the Eagles most consistent swimmers this season, providing the team with many important first-place finishes during crunch time. Murphy was named Outstanding Eagle of the Meet against Maine where he took first in the 100 yd. Backstroke and 100 yd. Butterfly events. His most impressive performance this season came at the biggest stage. At this year's ACC Championships in Greensboro, NC, Murphy swam in six events, recording personal bests in each while setting four Boston College Records in the process, two individual and two relay. Murphy finishes his career with arguably his best performance and one of the ACC's most impressive accomplishments.
