New Haven, Conn. - The Boston College men's and women's swim teams traveled to Yale University this weekend to compete in the Nutmeg Invitational. In addition to the Bulldogs, the Eagles swam against teams from Syracuse, Fordham, Williams, Bridgeport, Central Connecticut, C.W. Post, and Wagner. Team scores were not held in the two-day event as the Eagles turned in some solid efforts.

The Eagles got off to a fast start in the 200 freestyle relay. The men's relay team of Andy Faughnan, Daniel Kollar, Thomas Martz, and Matt Northrup won the event with a time of 1:26.43. The team also had second-place finishes in both the 400 and 800 freestyle relay events. The 400 freestyle relay team of Faughnan, Kollar, Jeffrey Benson, and Northrup barely missed the victory with a 3:11.76, while the 800 freestyle relay squad of Faughnan, Billy Schwitter, Kollar, and Northrup finished in 7:04.88.

The medley relays also saw strong performances from the Eagles. The 200 medley relay team of Tommy Chandler, Robert Swaninger, Martz, and Faughnan finished second with a time of 1:37.28, while the 400 medley relay team of Chandler, Michael Moore, Martz, and Faughnan was third with a 3:37.79.

Faughnan dominated the sprint freestyle events with victories in the 50 (21.53) and 100 (46.97). Both times were season bests. Martz also had strong individual performances, finishing second in the 50 free (21.65) and third in the 100 butterfly (51.59).

As a whole, the Eagles set season-best times in nearly every event in the meet, as they concluded their competition for the Fall semester.

After completing their winter break training in Tampa, FL, the men will resume their dual-meet schedule January 18 at Tufts.
