M. Swimming wins, Women fall at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Boston College swimming and diving team split a meet with Bryant University on Friday evening, as the BC men defeated the Bryant men, 153-101, and the BC women fell to the Bryant women, 136-126.
Collin Thilo and Connor Stickney led the BC men with two individual first-place finishes apiece. Thilo won the 50-yard Freestyle (22.15) and the 100-yard Freestyle (48.69). Stickney placed first in the 100-yard Backstroke (52.86) and in the 200-yard Backstroke (1:58.61). In addition to their individual wins, Thilo and Stickney also posted a first-place finish for the Eagles as a part of the 200-yard Medley Relay team with Timothy Corrigan and Sean Murphy.
James Boretti (1,000-yard Freestyle, 10:02.57), Sean Murphy (100-yard Breaststroke, 1:00.10), Zach Bowen (200-yard Butterfly, 1:59.92), Andrew Stranick (200-yard Breastroke, 2:12.31) and James Karle (500-yard Freestyle, 4:56.90) each earned an individual first-place finish for the Eagles, as well. The Boston College men swept the top three places in the 50 Free and 200 Back.
Annie and Mary Fothergill led the efforts for the BC women. A. Fothergill won the 100-yard Butterfly (1:00.84), while M. Fothergill took first in the 200-yard Fly (2:14.85) and third in the 100-yard Fly (1:01.29). Stephanie Ng earned first place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:12.47.
The Eagles return to action on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m., when they host the 2011 NE Catholic Invite.
