M. Swimming falls to Boston University

BOSTON, Mass. - The Boston College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were defeated by Boston University in a dual meet at BU on Saturday, February 2. The men lost 222-77 and the women fell 229-72.
Senior Diver Marty Long had the lone first place finish for the Eagles, taking first in the three meter dive with a score of 279. He also finished second in the one meter dive (269.47). Senior Connor Stickney had one of the best performances for BC, taking third in the 100 yard backstroke (53.34) and fourth in the 200 yard backstroke (1:58.86), while his 200 yard freestyle and 200 yard medley relay teams both took third.
Sophomore Nick Henze swam in both relays with Stickney, and added a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle (47.28) and took third in the 200 yard freestyle (1:43.68).
Sophomore Melissa Merwin led the way for the women, taking second in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:30.43), fourth in the 100 yard backstroke and helped her 200 yard medley relay team finish fourth (1:54.69).
The Eagles will return to action February 15 at the UConn Open.
