M. Swimming Splits With George Mason and Towson

FAIRFAX, VA - The men's swimming and diving team split in its meet over the weekend, defeating Towson 154 - 140 but falling to George Mason 201.50 - 96.50. The women's team fell to both George Mason (213-87) and Towson (246-54).
Sophomore Andrew Stranick and senior Connor Stickney had the best performances for the men's team. Stranick finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke (58.99), second in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:09.02) and fifth in the 200 yard IM (1:58.31). Stickney finished second in both the 100 yard backstroke (53.97) and the 400 yard freestyle relay (3:09.35). Both swimmers helped their 200 yard medley relay team take third (1:36.07.).
On the women's side, freshman Samantha Couillard and sophomore Emily Downs were the top performers for the Eagles. Couillard took fourth in both the 100 yard breaststroke (1:09.03) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:24.22). Downs finished fifth in both the 50 yard freestyle (25.48) and the 100 yard freestyle (54.93).
The Eagles will be back in action on January 19 at home against Marist College.
