Deanna Zechmann enters her sixth season as the Boston College diving coach. Since her arrival in 2002, she has continued to build a steady diving program.

She helped guide 2007 graduate, Christopher Wilson-Byrne, to earn the team's Most Valuable Performer award. Wilson-Byrne was only the third men's diver in school history to receive team MVP recognition.

Before arriving at Boston College, Zechmann served as an assistant coach at the University of Kansas. She also coached the Old Pike Country Club team in Kansas City, Mo., for two seasons.

Zechmann received her bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Kansas. She was a four-year diver at Kansas, twice reaching the finals at the Big 12 Conference Championship and qualified three times for the NCAA Zone Championship. As a student-athlete, she was a Jayhawk Scholar and was named to the Big 12 All-Academic Team.

During the past six years, Zechmann has been a secondary math teacher at Reading Memorial HS in Reading, Mass. She resides in Somerville, Mass., with her husband, Robert.
