Assistant Coach

Michael Pohorylo is entering his second season as assistant coach at Boston College. Pohorylo joins the team after a short stint as the volunteer assistant coach at Wheelock College. Although his time at Wheelock was brief, Pohorylo was able to learn a lot about the sport from a coach's perspective, which he knows will help him be a successful member of the coaching staff at Boston College.

Pohorylo spent his collegiate swimming career at Amherst College where he graduated with a B.A. in Law, Jurisprudence, and Social Thought. During his four years at Amherst, Pohorylo was able to earn Division III All-America honors in 11 events, All-Conference honors in 15, two team MVP's, and 10 NESCAC Conference titles. He capped of his senior year as an NCAA Champion in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, setting new NESCAC Conference records in both, and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team. In the off-season, Pohorylo was co-coach of Amherst's club water polo team and spent several months working as a coach at Harvard University's Technique Swim Camp.

As a high school swimmer at Suffield Academy, Pohorylo was a two-time All-America and was named Boston Globe's Male New England Prep School Swimmer of the Year in 2000. Pohorylo graduated from Suffield as an Academic All-America and the school's record holder in the 100 breaststroke and 200 I.M.
