M. Swimming Opens 2011-12 Season at West Point

Veteran leaders and talented freshmen look to succeed this season

AS A SENIOR (2011-2012): Named Captain for the 2011-2012 season

AS A JUNIOR (2010-2011): Named outstanding performer in the BC win over Colgate University... Won the outstanding performance award in the 100 Butterfly in BC victories over both Bryant University and Tufts University... Holds 2011 BC Swimming dual meet best in the 200 Butterfly vs. Boston University (1:56.59)... Was the Eagle's top finisher in the 200 Butterfly at the Terrier Invitational earning seventh place overall (1:55.29)... Recorded personal best time in 100 Butterfly at Terrier Invite (8th place overall, 51.78)... Eagle's top finisher in both 200 Butterfly (12th place overall, 1:54.57) and 200 IM (13th place overall, 1:55.87) at the 2011 ECAC Championship... 6th highest total points scored for BC in 2010-2011 season with 255 points, putting his career points at 357.25... Achieved 10 first place finishes for BC throughout the season, all in individual events... Won the Harold M. Groden MD Award, along with the rest of the BC Swim team.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2009-2010): Transferred from Bryant University to BC at as a sophomore at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season... Competed in every meet his sophomore year... Swam personal records in all his events at the 2010 ACC Championship meet... Won 5 first place finishes throughout the season... Named to 2009-10 All-ACC Academic Honor Roll...earned 2009-10 Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement.

AS A FRESHMAN (2008-2009): Attended Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island where he competed as part of the Varsity Men's Swimming team... Named Men's Swimming most improved for the 2008-2009 season... Broke Bryant University Swim team records in the 200 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly, 400 Medley Relay, 200 Medley Relay and 800 Freestyle Relay at the 2009 ECAC Championships.

BEFORE BC: Zachary transferred to BC from Bryant University at the end of his freshman year, where he swam for the 2008-2009 season... Graduated from Campbell High School in Litchfield, NH in 2008 ... Swam varsity all four years... Lettered in Football, Swimming, and Track and Field for the Cougars... Zachary won 2008 New Hampshire state championship in the 100 Fly and the 200 Free... received first team all-state recognition in New Hampshire... Swam for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua and Rockingham Area Youth Swimming since age 7.

PERSONAL: Zachary is from Litchfield, New Hampshire... Son of David and Leslie Bowen ... He has three sisters; Danielle, Shelby and Haley... enrolled in the School of Arts and Sciences as a Biology major and is in the Pre-Dental program.
