Bekker, Murphy Invited To MLS Player Combine

The pair are among 54 NCAA Division I seniors invited to participate in the combine. All 54 players will be eligible for selection in the 2013 SuperDraft presented by adidas that will take place on January 17.
A committee of NCAA Division I coaches from every conference, as well as MLS representatives, selected the invitees, all of whom completed their college eligibility this season. Generation adidas signings, non-collegiate players, and additional college seniors will be announced in the coming weeks.
Bekker was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Season (third team) and the All-ACC first team for the second consecutive year. He finished 2012 tied for the team lead with four assists and scored one goal. Bekker ranks second all-time at Boston College in assists (22), eighth in points (56) and 10th in goals (17).
Murphy played 82 matches in his BC career and had three goals and 10 assists. He was a two-time team captain that helped lead the Eagle defense to 14 shutouts the last two seasons. Boston College ranked fourth in the ACC in goals allowed (1.05) this past year.
Both players have international experience under their belts. Bekker led Canada to the semifinal stage of the 2012 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying tournament in March. He started two of the three games in group play and started the semifinal match against Mexico.
Murphy led New Zealand to the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Under-20 Championship in April 2011 and played for his country in the FIFA U-20 World Cup over that summer. He started all three matches in group play when New Zealand notched a pair of draws, its first points in U-20 World Cup finals action.
