Men's Soccer Faces Northeastern In NCAA Tournament

Boston College earned an at-large bid to the 2012 Division I Men's Soccer Championship and will face Northeastern in the first round of the tournament on Thursday at Parsons Field.
Boston College (8-5-5, 3-2-3 ACC) ranks 38th in the latest RPI ranking. The Eagles are led by a pair of All-ACC First Team performers in seniors Kyle Bekker and Charlie Rugg while the defense has recorded seven shutouts. BC was 2-1-1 on the road in ACC regular season matches and faced six teams in the top 30 of the RPI.
Northeastern (13-2-4, 6-1-3 CAA) is making its second NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Colonial Athletic Association title on Sunday. The Huskies are 14-0-1 in their last 15 matches at Parsons Field, including a 7-0-1 record this season.
The 2012 NCAA Championship marks the sixth-straight season and 12th time overall the Eagles have earned an NCAA Championship berth. Head coach Ed Kelly has led BC to 11 (of its 12) NCAA Tournament appearances, earning bids in 1990, 2000-02, 2004 and from 2007-12.
