Hayes, Lombard Named Eagles of the Week

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Brendan Hayes (men's soccer) and senior Zoe Lombard (women's soccer) have been named Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.

Hayes scored the first two goals of his collegiate career on Tuesday evening to lead Boston College to a 3-2 comeback win over Harvard. The Crimson held a 2-0 halftime lead and the Eagles scored three times in the second half to take the victory. Hayes scored his first goal in the 55th minute and then tallied the equalizer in the 71st. An own goal proved to be the game-winner three minutes later.

Lombard scored in the fifth minute of overtime to propel the Eagles past Maryland, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Ludwig Field. The win placed BC in eighth place in the ACC, one point ahead of Maryland. The senior headed in a cross from sophomore Lauren Bernard off a corner kick. It was Lombard's second goal of the year and Bernard's fifth assist.

The men's soccer team (6-6-2, 3-5-1 ACC) plays at Brown on Tuesday night and then hosts Virginia Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m. Women's soccer (9-8-1, 5-5-1) closes out the regular season by hosting Syracuse on Thursday at 4 p.m.
