CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College sophomore forward Casey Schmidt earned BIG EAST men's soccer co-Offensive Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 17. In two games last week, Schmidt scored two goals - both game-winners - and led the Eagles to a 2-0 record.
In Boston College's 3-0 road victory over Providence College on Wednesday, Sept. 13, Schmidt first got the Eagles on the scoreboard with a goal in the 18th minute. Against Seton Hall in South Orange, N.J. on Saturday, Sept. 16, the Newbury Park, Calif. native tallied the game's only goal in the fourth minute and gave the Eagles a 1-0 road victory.
A 1999 BIG EAST All-Rookie selection, Schmidt leads Boston College in scoring with nine points (four goals, one assist) through five games. He is currently in the midst of a career-high four game scoring streak, during which the Eagles are undefeated. Schmidt led Boston College in scoring last season with 11 goals and two assists for 24 points in 16 games.
Boston College is 4-1 on the season and 3-0 in conference play and next faces BIG EAST foe Rutgers the Newton Campus Soccer Fields on Friday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m.
