July 15, 2013
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College men's soccer team has released the 2013 schedule, highlighted by 11 conference matches and seven contests against NCAA Tournament teams a year ago.
The Eagles will host six ACC matchups at the Newton Campus Field, including conference newcomers Notre Dame and Syracuse.
Boston College opens the 2013 campaign down Commonwealth Avenue as it takes on Boston University on August 30. The home-opener is slated for September 2 against Quinnipiac and then the Eagles open the ACC schedule that weekend vs. Wake Forest (Sept. 7) at home.
A trip to Dartmouth (Sept. 9) begins a stretch of five road games in the next six outings. The Eagles will travel to Pittsburgh (Sept. 14) before hosting Notre Dame (Sept. 21) a week later. The Irish were the Big East champions and No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament last year, and advanced to the third round.
A three-game road swing then sends Boston College to Rhode Island (Sept. 24), NC State (Sept. 27) and perennial power Maryland (Oct. 4). The Terrapins won the ACC Championship last season and advanced to the national semifinals in the NCAA Tournament.
BC returns home for the next four matches and opens the homestand with Syracuse (Oct. 8), which advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. North Carolina (Oct. 12), Duke (Oct. 18) and Harvard (Oct. 22) close out the home stretch. The Tar Heels made it to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament in 2012.
Trips to Clemson (Oct. 25) and Brown (Oct. 29) close out October, and then BC hosts Virginia Tech (Nov. 3) in the final regular season home match on the schedule. The regular season concludes with a conference match at Virginia (Nov. 3).
The ACC Championship will be held from November 12-17, beginning with the quarterfinal round held at campus sites. The semifinals and the final will be hosted by Maryland at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown.
