CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Chris Hamblin, the senior goalkeeper on the men's soccer team, has earned Verizon Academic All-America honors for District 1. He earned a place on the region's second team. As a human development major in the Lynch School of Education, Hamblin has a GPA of 3.275.
This award is Hamblin second academic nod this year, as he was selected as the BIG EAST/Aeropostale Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in February.
A native of Bristol, England, Hamblin was rewarded for his career year with a first team All-America selection from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) at the conclusion of the season.
Hamblin ended the season with a .84 goals against average and eight shutouts. He also registered 103 saves in 20 games this year. BC finished the season 12-7-1 overall and won the BIG EAST Tournament. The team advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 1990 season.
The Verizon Academic All-America team is selected by CoSIDA, the national organization of sports information directors. To be nominated, student-athletes must have at least a 3.2 GPA and be a starter or key reserve on his or her team.
