Men's Soccer Defeats Providence, 2-0
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman forward Kevin Boyd (Del Mar, CA)
scored his first two collegiate goals to lift Boston College to a 2-0 home win
over Providence College in both teams' BIG EAST opener. The win evened Boston
College's record at 1-1-0. Providence College dropped to 0-1-0.
Boyd netted his first goal at 36:20. Sophomore Andy Stein took a cross from
senior Willie O'Keeffe just to the right of the goal, and chipped the ball to
Boyd who scored from five yards out. After the teams battled back and forth
through much of the second half, Boyd completed the scoring with an unassisted
tally at 86:42.
Freshman Chris Hamblin made four saves, earning his first collegiate win in
his first start for the Eagles. Providence junior goalkeeper Daniel Pires made
three stops.
