Boston College junior captain Keith McDonald's goal late in the first half accounted for the match's lone score as host Boston College defeated Boston University, 1-0, at Commander Shea Field.
The goal, the second of McDonald's career, came after BU junior goalkeeper Bryan Murphy made a diving save of McDonald's initial shot.
Boston College (3-5-2) outshot the visitors, 7-4, in the first half. The teams battled back and forth through much of the final 45 minutes, before BU (6-4-2) gained a second-half shot advantage late in the contest. BC won the final shot count, 13-12.
Boston College freshman goalkeeper Chris Hamblin finished with seven saves and earned his fourth shutout. Boston University's Murphy made four stops.
