Men's Soccer Edges Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Boston College freshman forward Kevin Boyd's unassisted goal midway through the first half accounted for the game's lone score as visiting Boston College defeated Villanova, 1-0, in a BIG EAST match played at the Villanova Soccer Field.

The goal was Boyd's fifth of the season. He leads the Eagles with 11 points in 14 matches.

With the win, Boston College raises its record to 5-7-2 overall and 4-5-1 in BIG EAST action. Villanova drops to 6-6-4 overall and 4-3-3 in BIG EAST matches.

Boston College freshman goalkeeper Chris Hamblin finished with seven saves and earned his sixth shutout. Villanova goalie Matthew Westfall made five saves.
