Boston College senior Mat Dunn's goal with 7:10 remaining in the second half accounted for the match's lone score as host Boston College defeated West Virginia, 1-0, in a BIG EAST match played at the Belmont Hill School.
Dunn's goal came off the rebound of WVU goalkeeper Bryan Givens' save of a direct kick by BC freshman Kevin Boyd. The goal was Dunn's first of the season and the fourth of his career.
Boston College (4-6-2) outshot the visitors, 16-9, in the match. BC senior Asgeir Asgeirsson had seven shots and led the Eagles' offensive attack.
Boston College freshman goalkeeper Chris Hamblin finished with three saves and earned his fifth shutout. WVU's Givens made eight saves.at Belmont Hill (Belmont, Mass.)
