Men's Soccer Falls To No. 18 Brown, 1-0

NEWTON, Mass. - Sophomore Ben Maurey snapped a scoreless game in the 87th minute to lift No. 18 Brown to a 1-0 victory over Boston College before 174 fans on Tuesday at Newton Campus Field.
Maurey received a feed from senior Thomas McNamara, touched the ball into free space and volleyed it with his left into the side netting for the gamewinner with 3:47 left on the scoreboard.
Boston College, which had held each of its last three opponents scoreless and last allowed a goal on Oct. 2 to Harvard in the second minute, saw its streak snapped at 485 minutes, two seconds of flawless defense.
The host Eagles outshot the Bears, 11-9, in the match, included an 8-2 advantage in the scoreless first half.
Brown senior goalkeeper Sam Kernan Schloss recorded four saves in winning effort. He improves to 10-1-2. BC senior Justin Luthy, who did not record a first-half save, made three saves in the game's final 45 minutes.
Next, Boston College travels to Durham, N.C. to face Duke on Friday, Oct. 19. First touch is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast by the ACC Digital Network on its YouTube Channel.
