No. 2 Men's Soccer, No. 22 St. John's Play To 1-1 Tie At adidas-Brown Classic

Boston College senior Mike Konicoff scored in the 15th minute for the second-ranked Eagles before Tafadwa Chuduku netted the equalizer in the 40th minute for No. 22 St. John's as the two teams played to a 1-1 non-conference tie before 850 fans at the adidas-Brown Classic on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles' record now stands at 2-1-1. The team finished 1-0-1 at the classic, having defeated Villanova, 1-0, on Friday.
St. John's is now 3-0-1 on the season. It also finished 1-0-1 in the tournament after beating host-Brown on Friday evening, also by a score of 1-0.
BC and St. John's were named Co-Champions of the adidas-Brown Classic.
BC opened the scoring early in the match - at 14:25. Konicoff collected a feed from sophomore Karl Reddick inside the 18-yard box and directed a left-footed kick inside the near post.
The goal was Konicoff's first of the season.
Chiduku knotted the score at one goal apiece - also on his first goal of the season - at 39:21.
The Eagles finished the first half with a 5-2 advantage in shots and doubled their shot total in the second half, concluding with a 10-4 edge through the first 90 minutes.
St. John's enjoyed a 3-0 shot advantage in 20 minutes of overtime action.
Senior goalkeeper Chris Brown registered three saves. Brown was particularly sharp in each of the two 10-minute overtime periods, recording two saves. He made an outstretched stop on a left-footed strike from the outer edge of 18 yards in the 105th minute.
Next, Boston College will open its conference schedule on Friday, Sept. 12 at Maryland. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
Game Notes: Four games into the young 2008 season, BC has concluded the three-game Big East portion of its schedule, having faced Providence, Villanova and St. John's. The team finished 1-1-1 against its former conference foes ... Konicoff is the fourth different goal scorer (in four games) for BC. Konicoff, Stephen Hepburn, Greg O'Neil and Edvin Worley have each scored once. Konicoff's goal marked the seventh of his 54-game collegiate career ... Reddick's assist marked his first point of the season. He has now registered six points - one goal and four assists - in 25 games ... O'Neil recorded his first start of the season ... Brown, Konicoff, senior Alejandro Bedoya and freshman Conor Fitzpatrick earned All-Tournament Team honors at the adidas-Brown Classic.
