Sept. 1, 2010

NEWTON, Mass. - Junior Amit Aburmad tallied one goal and one assist in his Boston College debut and sophomores Charlie Rugg and Kyle Bekker each scored once to lead the 12th-ranked Eagles to a 3-2 win over Hartford before 386 fans at the Newton Campus Field.

Boston College trailed for just 53 seconds in the match and twice held one-goal leads - 2-1 at 15:35 and 3-2 at 40:28.

Bekker snapped a 2-2 tie in the 41st minute, settling freshman Ryan Dunn's long cross with his left foot and beating Hartford goalkeeper Matt McElroy with a low, left-footed strike into the far corner.

The teams played scoreless through the game's final 59:32.

Hartford forward Steve Aiston had given the visiting Hawks an early 1-0 lead before Aburmad tied the game at 1-1 at 9:33.

Rugg gave the host Eagles a 2-1 lead just more than six minutes later, one-timing a cross from Aburmad off a set piece, for his first goal of the season in the 16th minute.

Hartford junior Patrick Boucher tied the score at 2-2 in the 31st minute off a right-footed blast high into the goal from close range.

Both goalkeepers - Boston College's Justin Luthy and Hartford's McElroy - made one exceptional save in the match.

Luthy preserved BC's 2-1 lead at the time with a diving stop on Ainston's point-blank bid for his second goal of the game in the 28th minute.

McElroy denied Aburmad his second goal of the match in the 43rd minute, reaching a header into the top left corner to push the ball beyond the goal joint and out of bounds.

Boston College tallied a 11-8 edge in shots in the game.

Next, BC will travel to Quinnipiac for its second game of the 2010 season on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m.
