MT. CRANMORE, NH - The men's ski team continued last weekend's success with a third place finish at the UCONN Carnival at Mt. Cranmore in New Hampshire. The Eagles edged out Colby-Sawyer for second place in day one, which jumped them to second place in the league standings.
Day one of the meet was lead by junior Chris Burgart, who finished fifth overall, and Burgart's second run was fast enough for second best run of the day. Fifth year captain Stephen Fiorella, who placed seventh, and sophomore Jimmy Campbell, who placed ninth, rounded out the top ten finishes for the Eagles. Senior captain Dylan Roberts finished fifteenth overall while senior Willie Flad finished out the scoring for the Eagles on day one with a twentieth place finish.
The Eagles finished day two of the Carnival in third place. The team slipped into third place after holding the lead in the first run of the day. Fiorella found himself in the top ten for the second day in a row with his fifth place finish for day two. Freshman Mike Nocek placed ninth in day two and finished in the top ten for the first time in his career. Sophomore Stacey Bolger was able to place fifteenth and has scored for the Eagles in both races this season. Dylan Roberts and Willie Flad capped off the scoring for the Eagles by finishing eighteenth and nineteenth respectively.
After the second race of the year, the Eagles were able to hold on to second place in the league standings. They finished the weekend four points behind Plymouth State University and a point ahead of Colby-Sawyer College. Next week the men's ski team hopes to take over first place at the Plymouth State University Carnival at Waterville Valley, New Hampshire.
