Cambridge, Mass. - The Boston College men's track team competed at the Harvard Invitational Saturday at Harvard's Gordon Track. No team score was kept, but the Eagles captured multiple individual events. Several New England colleges and universities competed. Junior Frank DiVittorio placed first in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.45, while Louis Canelli won the high jump with a leap of 1.95 meters.

Sophomore Corey Phelps finished eighth in the 60-meter dash, crossing the line in 7.22, while classmate Gregory Hassel was 11th in the 200-meter race with a time of 23.44

Four Eagles placed in the top 25 of the 400-meter run. Freshman Brendon Gaffney finished fifth, crossing in 50.45, while senior Christopher Caulfield was 11th with a time of 51.52. Sophomores Sebastian Mansson was 15th, while Matthew Dollard finished 25th.

Senior Daniel LaFave was third in the 500-meter dash, finishing the race in 1:05.36. Rookie Mike Akins placed sixth with a time of 1:07.09. Junior Ryan Henry crossed in 1:07.43 for ninth place in the event.

Boston College finished four runners in the top ten of the one-mile race, as Junior Jeff Klatsky finished in 4:21.91, only .33 seconds off of the winner's pace. Sophomore James LaGreca placed fourth with a time of 4:22.89, while sophomore Dan Springer crossed the line in 4:24.9 for sixth place. Freshman Michael Sainato was ninth with a solid time of 4:26.42.



In the 800-meter, Frank DiVittorio placed first, classmate Connor Farrell was second, crossing in 1:55.48. Freshman Ryan Diorio took fifth with a time of 1:57.43 and classmate Kevin Floster was eighth, finishing in 1:59.48.

While the Eagles did not capture the 3,000-meter run, the team did have five of the top 10 runners. Junior Patrick Mellea was second with a time of 8:12.27, sophomore Timothy Ritchie was fourth, crossing in 8:41.14, and classmate David Emerson was fifth, finishing in 8:42.4. Sophomore Patrick Viklund was sixth, crossing the line in 8:47.66 and freshman Justin Wheat was tenth, finishing in 8:59.81.

Boston College placed second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:23.38. Sophomore Benjamin Kocarnik was sixth in the pole vault with a score of 4.25 meters, while junior Shawn Kushiyama finished seventh with a score of 4.10 meters.

Louis Canelli also competed in the long jump, placing 11th with a leap of 6.31 meters.

Freshman Kevin Distaso was 21st in the shot put with a throw of 11.58 meters. Distaso was also 21st in the weight throw with a score of 11.43 meters.
